Carlsbad Caverns is a national park about 2.5 hours from El Paso. It's just a straight shot down US Route 180, passing through Guadalupe Mountains National Park. There are so many amazing structures to see within the caverns, with a bat flight offered at different times during the year (check with the National Park Service for those specific dates and times). The hike in to the Caverns is pretty strenuous so if you have any mobility issues, definitely take the elevator into the main Cavern (called the Big Room). This is one of my favorite national parks that's so close to where I grew up. It's perfect for a weekend trip!
